Summary
Fukameru has no developer-operated accounts, advertising, cross-app tracking, or analytics. Dictionary searches run against reference data bundled with the app. The developer does not collect personal information through the app.
Data in the app
Fukameru stores the information needed to provide its features:
- cards you create or import, including words, readings, definitions, sentences, translations, tags, and attached media;
- review history, scheduling state, daily limits, reminder choices, appearance, and other preferences;
- recent dictionary searches, stored as an on-device preference; and
- files you explicitly select for Anki import or card media.
This information is used only to provide the app’s features. It is not sent to Fukameru’s developer.
Optional iCloud sync
Fukameru uses Apple’s CloudKit through your signed-in iCloud account when that service is available. This can keep user-created data in sync across your devices. Synced records live in your private CloudKit database; the developer does not use a server to receive or inspect them. Apple processes iCloud data under its own terms and privacy policy.
The bundled dictionary, kanji reference data, and example-sentence database are not uploaded to iCloud.
Device permissions
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Fukameru schedules local study reminders on your device. Fukameru does not use push-notification marketing.
Photos and files
You may choose media or deck files using Apple’s system pickers. Fukameru accesses only the items you select and uses them for the action you requested.
External services and links
Core dictionary search and study do not require a network connection. If you open an external link, the destination receives information normally sent by your browser and applies its own privacy policy.
Reference data comes from JMdict, KANJIDIC2, KRADFILE, Tanos JLPT resources, and Tatoeba. See Legal & data sources.
Your control and data retention
Your data remains until you edit or delete it, remove local app data, or manage corresponding iCloud data through Apple. Removing the app deletes its local data from that device, but synced data may remain in iCloud and on other devices. Because the developer cannot access your private iCloud database, the developer cannot retrieve or delete that data for you.
Exported files remain wherever you save or share them.

If data practices materially change, this page will be updated with a new effective date. Questions can be submitted through the support page. Do not include private study content in a public issue.
